The frog’s epiphany

Sometimes you have to just face your fears and go for it

Its time to move on…….

The well, dug deep into the earth, provided shelter, food, and all his aquatic life required. He was happy and satisfied. He had his family and friends. He really didn’t have to think about much and didn’t tax his brain about thoughts of existence. He was a contented frog. Until one day, his curiosity getting the better of him, he decided to climb the rope that was attached to the bucket. He could always see the light above, but like peering down the end of a long tunnel it seemed so small and impassible. Hope grew as he arose as did the light and he hopped down on the edge of the well. Never could he have imagined such a sight. There was so much space and a multitude of living things. The sky was so immense and there was more water than he could have ever dreamed of. There he stared at a pond. It was all so huge and frightening. Hurriedly he scampered back down to safety and familiarity. In the succeeding days he tried very hard not to think about the pond and what life would be like outside his limited confined experience. Sometimes he was successful. Finally he knew he had to try. Either it would work or it would not. So once again he arose, climbed up the rope and this time jumped into the pond. It was wonderful! Embracing the change was the highlight of his life. Ducks and geese would come and they told him about an even bigger body of water called a lake. He pondered. I love it here and I can go back to the well for visits. Why would I leave? But he knew he must. So he traveled and finally reached the lake. This must be the epitome of life’s reality. Never could he imagine such grandeur. It’s immensity truly made his head swim. Once again he felt he had arrived. He may have harbored vain thoughts , proudly thinking of where he had come from secretly comparing himself to the ones who stayed behind in the well. That was soon assuaged when the salmon told him about their journey from a place called the ocean. Surely this was not possible. But why would they lie? He had to see for himself. Off again. It was a long arduous journey. He was being compelled by a force he did not understand. He was getting old but remained determined. Then he began to smell subtle hints of the oceans fragrance. He heard it before he saw it. Breaking free from the foliage he sat on the beach, the edge of the ocean, frozen in time. He could not move. He could not speak. He felt so small. Will wonders never cease? Then through tear filled eyes he bowed and humbled himself extolling the greatness of a creator who could do this. With great effort he approached the oceans edge, the tide rolling in and out, and then he jumped into the sea. His journey was over or maybe……. it had just begun.

“The further backwards you can look the further forward you can see.”

There are no accidents, only incidents, and some purpose that we haven’t yet understood

Leave the shore launching into the deep. There infinity and eternity awaits with perfection, lights, and beauty.
