The inescapable knowing
‘to live is to suffer…to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering’
‘acceptance isn’t resignation. It means something is the way it is and that there has got to be a way through it’.
‘If you are going through Hell…keep going’!
‘If we don’t change our direction, we are likely to end up where we are headed’
Waking…memory seeps through my veins…cold heartless cruel in its relentless pursuit of any happiness and peace
the pain of loss, loneliness and an ache too deep to ever heal
my feet hit the floor I put a smile on my face never exposing how I really feel
there is little hope God has passed his judgment…we don’t always win
I know God isn’t coming to ease the pain or fill the void of loss and loneliness or to restore things like they formerly were
He is from above and below we are left afloat just one more body taking space in the boat
hurting humanity in an ocean of sorrow so much pain brutal searing pain physical emotional
He is a ten perfect in every way we are less than a one scratching clawing to just reach the surface and the light of day He awaits
so many scars disappointments bad decisions and for all of it the ointment of grief is all we’ve been given swallowing our being like dark matter that doesn’t give back
you look about seems everything is deteriorating…your health quality of life those you love your chance of reconciliation simple words of regret and remorse are past they are not coming
and yet you know you must forgive you say you don’t know how but you seek a place of forgiveness you must survive I want to have the memory that you stood fast not eaten up with hate fought the good fight and against all evidence still had faith
and so my friends do not offer me your pretense of empty piety and prattle…God is in control He knows best you’ve got to have faith and trust while you walk away unaffected by my grief Job’s comforters once again you offend me ‘it is easier to believe in this sweet madness this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees’ there I am at least a genuine soul
‘when pain sorrow and suffering come upon us we finally see not only that we are not in control of our lives but that we never were pain and suffering are the dark strands in the tapestry of our lives providing depth and dimension to the masterpiece God is fashioning within us’ out of suffering have emerged the strongest of characters sealed with scars
he who learns must suffer even in our sleep pain visits us pain that does not forget relentless falling drop by drop upon the heart and in our body and in our despair and against our will wisdom comes to us from the awful grand grace of God
He is a man of grief and sorrow…ours and the whole world it was never His intention to save us from suffering and pain but to mold and shape us by it…they are the tools of the master
time does not heal it only helps distance you from the event of the pain
